My love of Jeeps truly goes back to when I was a kid. I can remember coveting the neighbor kid's G.I. Joe toy Jeep, with the fold down front windshield, mounted RPG, and usable plastic gas can. In high school, I wheeled (off road term for...off roading) a bit in a 1979 Blazer, which was cool as heck and a lot of fun. Even if it was dirt clods and field grass stuck in the bumper that tipped my Father off, eventually leading to a grounding I'm sure. As time went on, college and life carried me away, and wheeling was replaced with backpacking, skiing, and then work.

A good friend from college had a Jeep, and her dream was to do a Jeep Jamboree, to learn what her rig could do. Our friendship fueled my desire to have a Jeep, but even then, getting a Jeep wasn't in the cards. A few years out of college my friend lost a battle with Cancer. A battle that was very swift but very violent, but she was gone. Our combined dreams of Jeeping were never diminished.

This brings us to today, or about two years ago at the time I wrote this. With my cousins Char & Patrick O'Day heavily into Jeeping and a desire to connect more with them, finally, I decided to get my Jeep.

Of course, this can't just be any Jeep. When I saw the "Anvil" color, I fell in love but immediately saw a fighter jet. Lots of people like to theme out their Jeeps; I'm no less geeky than them. But the story gets better. Since I saw a jet in my Jeep, I decided to theme it in honor of my Great Uncle Bob Wellman, who flew gas and munitions over the hump (route from India-Burma-China) in WWII.

A lot has changed since that first stock Jeep Rubicon came home, and much more to come. See below for my Jeep Build as it stands at this moment.
