Time To Vote…You Gotta Love a Multi-Party System

I love to vote, it’s a right I have living in a democracy, it’s something we all should be up on.  But, if you aren’t in for just being up on things, one can find the Voter’s (Washington State) Pamphlet very entertaining.  Mine came in the mail in the last few days so I thought I’d crack it and take a look.

Some candidates state what they’ve done or what they believe on the issues and you can align and pick who you want or who you think will do a good job.  Then there are candidates that take some odd or interesting platforms based on fear and what I think is propaganda, such as:

Michael Delavar (Prefers Republican Party), running for Representative US Congressional District 3: who rejects light rail from Portland to Vancouver because it “…might increase crime” and says we must “…attack the terrorists wherever they are…” (which would mean many things depending on how ones defines them).  Besides feeling light rail would bring crime, he sounds like any other Republican.

Light rail wasn’t the most odd…..it’s called “leading up”. :)

Will Baker (Prefers Reform Party), running for Governor of Washington: This guy appears to have built a whole platform and career around crushing Governor Christine “The Cover-Up Queen” Gregoire, as he calls her. Do we want a Governor who’s whole platform is built around hatred towards the current Governor?  What happens when he wins?  Then what will he do?

Gregoire had normal statements…..so did Duff Badgley of the Green Party……but Javier O. Lopez invented an Air Engine for automobiles.

My favorite one running for office of Governor, with the craziest comments in the Voter Pamphlet:

Mohammad Hassan Said, No Party Preference, running for Governor: His whole platform is built around how the Jews did everything wrong in the world as well as are behind everything.

“Withdraw Washington National Guard from Iraq Immediately…” because “The unfair Iraqi occupation was engineered by New Conservative for Israel”. But states that he is still seeking proof under the Freedom of Information Act.  WOW!  This guys has cajones…..makes an accusation in his platform statement in the Voter Pamphlet against a race of people, of which he states he has no proof.  WTF? Is this Washington State?

Point 2 & 3 in the statement say he wants to amend the Constitution….smooth move.

What really hit as so propagandized I laughed out loud:

“Finally I would like to sound the alarm, that AIPAC and other Jewish Zionist Lobbies who represent less than 2% of American People are using the United States through their mighty power in the News Media, Financial Institutions, Hollywood and Entertainment Industry.”

Did he really just say that, let alone print it in the Voter’s Pamphlet?  Well, one thing we all enjoy around here is free speech but really, print it in the Voter’s Pamphlet?  As one of my favorite authors said once (and I paraphrase): “Keep your mouth shut and appear ignorant rather than open it and remove all doubt”.  But if your platform is based on fear and racism then I guess you would have to open your mouth.

Wow, that was enough crazy talk for one day……
