Kris Adoption Profile

Kris Vockler Adoption Profile

My name is Kris Vockler and I live in Vancouver, Washington with two beautiful dogs who love all the children in my life; Alexandra (Xandie for short) is a 12 year old blue heeler and Sidhartha (Sid for short) is a gorgeous 4 year old Golden retriever. I would like to share with you who I am and my desire to add a child to my wonderful family through the adoption process.  My heart is open and hopeful for a child, through this biography I hope you will see how I live my life.

My child hood was wonderful, spent with two of the neatest people I know, my Mother Trisha and my Father Larry; I also have to mention two sets of the best Grandparents a gal could ever have and a Cousin (named Troy) who was 120% more of a brother than a cousin.  My two beautiful God Children (Ryan and Katelynn) are my Cousin Troy’s adoptive children. Although born and raised here in Vancouver, I like to think I am a person of the world as I’ve travelled across the globe and have as many friends as countries I’ve visited.

In college I studied the sciences with a desire to give back to the environment by getting a degree in Geological Engineering and Chemistry; those degrees would take me to Colorado as I worked as a consultant cleaning up hazardous waste but it was Chemistry that brought me back home to a part-time job at my families paint company.  Being a company with similar values of creating products that are clean for the environment, I worked my way through the company over the last 10 years from Chemist to Marketing and now as Vice President of Operations.  I have a wonderful life, the only thing missing is a child of my own to love, support, and raise.

Although I chose to pursue career up to this time, my life has always been filled with children and my natural ability to bond with them and contribute mutually to each other’s lives.  From watching and participating to my friends children growing up to being a part of watching my God Children grow, children have always been important to me.

I love music, as you can see from the photos; one of my favorite things in the world is grabbing my guitar and giving musical instruments to children around me and making music.

As well as exploring other cultures, I speak Spanish as well as a bit of a few other languages.  One of my goals in life is to be able to speak 3 languages in total fluently.  My hopes are to have a child of mine also speak several languages.

Parenting Values

My values about parenting come from participating in being parented by two people who I feel are the best role models a person could ask for.  Still married after 40+ years, my parents raised me with several important maxims, honesty and respect.  Be honest with myself and other’s at all times and respect myself and others above all, it’s served me well.

From both of my Grandfathers I leaned what it means to be compassionate and generous, these two values coupled with honesty and respect are the base of how I want to be a parent and instill the same values.

Finally, one more quality my parents instilled in me I also want to show a child, it’s a love for the world. My parents started to show me the word via travel at a fairly young age, what I have gained in learning about other cultures and traveling has enriched my life as well as proven to be a better teacher than anything else in my life.

What I wish to express to you is as a parent your child will always be loved and cared for no matter what.  My wish is to help develop a child’s natural abilities and discover what brings him or her joy.  Encouraging a child to explore their interests is vital, something my parents did for me that allowed me to have a love for life as well as be a very well rounded person.  Lastly, I want a child to know that I will always be there and available for them as they grow.

Family and Friends

I am very lucky to have such a strong support network that have helped me through my achievements in life.  Most of my friends have been my friends since grade school, the rest have been friends for 15+ years from college.  Most also have children from newborn to 14 years of age.  I am very outgoing and have no trouble making new friends as well wherever I am but what I love most is knowing that I have quality friends who have been with me over the years.

As I’ve mentioned my parents and I are very close, not only living a mile from each other and working together but they are very excited at the prospect of me adopting a child.  Same can be said by my remaining Grandmother’s who always said I’d make a great mother someday.

Everyone has expressed excitement and a desire to support me in this adoption.

My Home

My home is in a historic suburb of the Portland/Vancouver metro area. This is a fantastic  neighborhood that hosts some of the best schools the state has to offer with many parks and child related activities nearby.  Being a sports fan and loving to play sports, this area hosts some of the best kids sports around, from Soccer to Baseball.  I am fortunate to be in a good financial position where a child will be needing nothing, including college or anything else this child may need or want.

All things considered, this is as great a place to raise a child as it was to be a child and grow up here.  We are about 1.5 hours from the coast beaches and about a 1.5 hours from the countries best ski resorts.  Few places parallel us in hiking trails and natural beauty.

My home sits walking distance to a beautiful creek and is surrounded by beautiful fir trees as well as a ridge to the east that is home to a family of Red Tailed Hawks.  The home itself is a ranch style home with plenty of room, recently remodeled and modern.  The yard is perfect for a child, with room for many outside toys and exploring, all within a safe and secure fenced yard.  We are within walking distance to Washington State University and their beautiful campus, allowing us to see all the seasons the NW has to offer.  As an avid fisherman, we have many streams and lakes nearby to teach a child how to love nature and enjoy fishing, when it’s time to learn how to skip rocks, we have the perfect location just a small walk from the house.

My Promise To You

I am so excited about the possibility of adopting a child, the time is perfect with what I have to offer and teach a child.  I understand and respect you for your part in creating your child, my promise to you is I will welcome this child into my heart just as you would wish.  Having your child placed into an adoption program must have been the most difficult decision you have ever made, I promise to love your child as you do.  A child I adopt will be loved and cared for as if the child were biologically my own.
